Flip Privacy Policy
Flip does not collect, transmit, sell or share any of your data. The app has no internet permission, no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Everything it works with stays on your device.
This policy explains how Flip (the “app”), published by MARTIKYAN GARIK PERCH, IE (“we”), handles information on your device.
Motion sensor
Flip reads the phone's accelerometer while it is switched on, to tell when the phone is lying face down and still on a surface. It runs as a foreground service with a notification so this keeps working with the screen off. The readings are used in the moment and are not stored or sent anywhere.
Do Not Disturb
Flip asks for Do Not Disturb access so it can turn on its own Do Not Disturb rule when the phone is face down and turn it off when you pick it up. It does not change your other Do Not Disturb settings.
Contacts
If you choose to let certain people ring through, Flip asks for access to your contacts. It uses it only to show your starred contacts and to star or unstar a contact when you add or remove them in the app, because starred contacts are the callers Android's Do Not Disturb can let through. Flip does not copy your contacts anywhere, and never reads them without that permission.
Notification access and your list of apps
If you choose apps whose notifications should still reach you while the phone is face down, Flip asks for notification access and shows you a list of the apps installed on your phone to pick from. When a notification arrives while Flip has silenced the phone, the app checks only which app posted it and whether it is a call, and alerts you if that app is on your list. The content of notifications is never read, stored or shared.
Information stored on your device
Flip keeps a small amount of information locally, in the app's private storage:
- Your settings: whether Flip is on, sensitivity, theme, haptics, and who and which apps get through.
- A history of when the phone was silenced and for how long, and, unless you turn sleep off in Settings, when the screen was off, so the app can show your day and your nights. Flip does not track movement while you sleep.
This information never leaves your device through Flip. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes it.
Device backups
If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include Flip's settings and history in your device backup to your Google account. That backup is performed by Android and managed by Google under your account, not by us, and we have no access to it.
Children
Flip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
